Plenary lectures and special talks
Plenary and special presentations last 45 minutes and do not include discussion.
Symposia
Presentations are limited to 20 minutes with additional 2 minutes for discussion. If speakers use their own laptops they need to be aware that setup time cuts into their presentation. Speakers are requested to honor the time constraints for their presentations and Chairpersons should help them comply with that obligation.
Technical resources
Technical equipment available for presentations:
- Data and video projectors (resolution up to 1024 x 768 pixels)
- Notebook or PC with Windows operating system and Microsoft Office
If a presenter plans to use his / her own laptop, they should notify the organizers in advance of the session. Advance requests are required also for video projection.
Speaker Centre
A speaker centre with technical equipment and staff to review media and download your presentation will be available, and a technician and a room attendant will be in every room to provide assistance when needed. The Speakers Centre will have the same opening hours as the registration desk, i.e. it will open at 2 p.m. on Thursday Sep 22, and at 7:30 a.m. on every subsequent day of the conference.
Please, make sure that your presentation is installed and tested at least two hours before your talk. Only Power Point presentations, CDROM, USB Memory cards will be accepted for downloads on the lecture hall computer. Version MS PowerPoint 2007 is recommended.
At the end of the congress, all presentations will be deleted from the lecture hall and speaker center computers.
Posters must be brought to the Conference venue by the presenting author and should not be mailed to the organizers. Two nearby print shops, Sekom Grafika ([email protected], www.sekom-grafika.si) and Grafex agencija ([email protected], www.grafex.si), offer payment on delivery of the poster to the Congress centre Cankarjev dom or Medical faculty (YNFL'11) of Ljubljana. However, there are several print-shops in the vicinity of the venue. Note: This service is unrelated to the SNC'11, and organisers accept no responsibility for poster printing or delivery to the venue.
The required poster dimensions are 190 cm (width) by 100 cm (height), and will be mounted in landscape orientation (poster board size 200 cm x 120 cm).
Poster presentation schedule
Due to large number of posters, each poster will be exhibited for two days only. For that purpose, posters will be assigned to either a group A or B. For group A, the posters must be mounted on Thursday before 16:00 and removed by 19:00 hrs on Friday. For Group B, the posters should be mounted on Saturday between 8:00 and 9:00 hrs. and removed by the end of scientific programme on Sunday.
Authors will be informed on the poster group (A or B) and number of the posterboard for their posters by e-mail including detailed information on poster presentations.
Authors are requested to be by their posters at the specified time for presentations, i.e., between 12:30 and 14:30 hrs. In addition, we advise that they stay in the poster area also during coffee breaks for informal discussion of their work.
Instructions for preparing effective posters
At the top of the poster, use bold letters of 2,5 to 3 cm size to provide the title, authors, and affiliations. Artwork and lettering should be large and clear enough so that the poster is easily readable from a distance of 1,5 m.
A poster should have the following sections: Introduction, Methods, Results (with figures), and Conclusion or Summary. When writing the text of the poster, minimize narrative and use large type in short separated paragraphs. You should not write entire paragraphs in boldface or capital letters. Use numbered or bulleted lists - they are a concise but effective way to convey a series of points.
Keep in mind that SiNAPSA Conference is a multidisciplinary event. People of varying degrees of interest and experience may be viewing your poster. Therefore, you should make your points as clear and brief as possible.
Poster dimensions given for SNC'11 apply also to YNFL'11 posters. YNFL'11 poster presenters will receive an e-mail with specific instructions for their presentations. For further details on the YNFL'11 programme, visit the YNFL'11 web page.
