Braincity employment opportunity

Ewelina Knapska | 24. 4. 2019

An EMBL partnership institute called Braincity was recently established in Poland. The Braincity will adhere to the EMBL model of scientific excellence & independence, substantial core funding, and periodic external review and is located within the Nencki Institute, the premier neurobiology institution in Poland. Braincity will join a long tradition of institutes across Europe that have adopted key features of the EMBL model, including CRG, MPI-CBG-Dresden, IMP, Curie Institute, Crick Institute, DANDRITE, FIMM, MIMS, and NCMM.

Braincity is seeking to hire four new group leaders who will join the founding groups of Leszek Kaczmarek and Ewelina Knapska to form a center of excellence for neuroscience with a focus on carrying out fundamental research in neuroplasticity with relevance to human disease. More information about Braincity can be found here. New group leaders will be provided with dedicated laboratory space and core funding to cover start-up and running costs for a group of 4-5 members and subsidized access to animal and core facilities.

Braincity is located on the largest academic research campus in Eastern Europe in the heart of Warsaw, a dynamic and cosmopolitan capital in the youngest and fastest growing region of Europe. New groups will benefit from Poland’s generous national grant funding system and ample opportunities for collaboration with clinicians and interactions with a highly successful biotech sector.

I’d very much appreciate your help in bringing this exciting opportunity to the attention of outstanding senior postdoctoral fellows. Interested persons should submit CV, letter of motivation, and research plan documents via the Braincity recruitment site and can contact me or the Braincity Directors, Drs. Leszek Kaczmarek ([email protected]) and Ewelina Knapska ([email protected]).

The job search closes May 17, 2019 and interviews will be held July 22-23.
